Renewal
Substantive trade marks are valid for 14 years from the local filing date, and every 14 years thereafter;
Re-registration trade marks are valid for 10 years from the UK filing date, and every 10 years thereafter.
Use Provisions
If substantive trade marks are not used within a period of 5 years from their registration date, they become vulnerable to an action for cancellation by third parties;
There is no use requirement in respect of UK re-registration trade marks.
