Renewal

Renewal fees in Mongolia are payable at intervals of several years for certain fixed block periods calculated from the PCT filing date, as follows: 

1.      1st - 5th  years
2.      6th - 10th years
3.      11th - 15th years
4.      16th - 20th years 

In general, the fee for the first five years falls due for payment upon issuance of the Notice of Grant, and the fees for the subsequent periods must be paid in advance during the 12 months prior to the commencement of those periods.  A six-month period of grace is available for late payment of renewal fees, with a 100% surcharge.

Although Article 25 of the Patent Law of Mongolia, which refers to renewal payments, only mentions patents, it appears that fees are also payable for registered designs - therefore, by implication, renewal fees are payable for block periods calculated from the local filing date as specified above for patents, up to the expiry of the 10-year term of a design.
