Gazan Trade Mark Office resumes operations: Act now on outstanding matters
We are pleased to report that, as of 26 July 2026, the Gaza Trade Mark Office has begun gradually resuming operations following a prolonged period of disruption caused by the regional situation. The Office is now processing new trade mark applications, renewals, publications and recordals.
While this is a positive development, some uncertainty remains regarding historical applications and pending matters, including oppositions, examination proceedings, office actions, and certain prosecution-related formalities. We expect further clarity as the Trade Mark Office works to restore normal operations, and we will continue to provide further updates as additional information becomes available.
What does this mean for trade mark owners?
Trade mark owners that postponed filings, renewals, or recordal actions during the suspension period should now review their portfolios to identify any outstanding matters requiring attention. We strongly recommend proceeding with new trade mark applications, renewals, and recordals as soon as possible to ensure that trade mark rights remain fully protected.
Opposition Deadline: The deadline for filing oppositions against applications published in the most recent gazette, namely Trademark Gazette No. 70 dated 15 August 2023, has been extended until 11 August 2026.
