Nepal: Updated deadlines for pending and published trade mark applications (December 2025 notice)

Following from our latest article on Nepal, the Department of Industry issued a further notice on 1 December 2025.   A copy of this notice is here.  This affects all pending and published trade mark applications, and the required actions are summarised below:

 

Pending or incomplete applications

Action required by 1 March 2026

Applicants with pending or incomplete trade mark applications where supporting documents are outstanding are required to resubmit their applications together with all necessary documents within 90 days from the date of publication of this notice, making 1 March 2026 the final submission deadline. Any application that has been pending for more than 7 years and is not resubmitted by the deadline will be cancelled.

 

Published applications

Action required by 31 May 2026

Applicants whose trade marks have been published prior to 1 December 2025, and where no opposition has been filed, must apply for issuance of the registration certificate within 6 months of the notice, making 31 May 2026 the final submission deadline.  If such an application is not submitted, then the application will be cancelled.

In 2016 Tim was awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property (with Merit) from Bournemouth University and became a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in 2018.
