Continuity and commitment: Michelle’s 50 years at Lysaght
In July this year, our colleague and friend Michelle Boyes celebrated 50 years of working at Lysaght. Continuity and stability are at the heart of what clients value, and Michelle’s 50 years stand as an extraordinary example of that.
For Michelle, we enjoyed a lovely day celebrating her and her exceptional contribution over the last 50 years, which was thoroughly deserved. When I asked Michelle what she thought about having worked at only one company during her career, she remarked “I’ve always loved working with my colleagues and never saw coming to work each day as a chore. The variety of my job has kept me interested, especially being able to work with clients and intermediaries in so many different countries which is something I would never have imagined when I began working here.”
I joined Lysaght in 2022 and I instantly felt a warm family-type atmosphere where everyone really cared about each other. Personnel decisions made by the directors were more favourably geared towards the employee, even if the Employee Handbook said otherwise. As such this was rewarded with loyalty and longevity.
The same is still true today, and especially with our company commitment and value of Putting People First. We are very fortunate to work with great clients, many of whom have been with the company for decades, but we recognise that in order to provide the well-respected service we are known for, our employees are the key to how we achieve this. Collectively our length of service is 363 years and over half of our employees have worked at Lysaght for 10 or more years. Whilst we might never see anyone reach the same dizzy heights of Michelle’s 50-year milestone again, this is something we will never take for granted and continue to be proud of.
When I asked Michelle what her favourite memory was about her time working at Lysaght , she replied: “I can’t think of one particular memory that really sticks out as my favourite or most memorable, because there really have been so many. I have made lifelong friends from working here and I have seen the company evolve over the years, through good and hard times. One thing I know is that time has flown by and I really have enjoyed every minute”.
On behalf of all the directors and everyone at Lysaght, we truly thank Michelle for everything she has done during her time at Lysaght, and what a fabulous 50 years it has been.
