The Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade has temporarily suspended online trade mark services until 10 November 2026 while data is transferred to the new electronic filing system. The suspension forms part of preparations for the launch of an upgraded digital platform intended to modernise the administration of intellectual property rights in Lebanon.
What this means for rights holders
• Any parties planning to file or manage IP matters in Lebanon should anticipate short delays in the processing of applications while these system changes are implemented.
• Any deadlines falling between 5 and 10 November 2026 will be suspended, with the relevant time limits extended in line with the duration of the outage. Whilst these are the official dates given out by the Trade Mark Office (TMO), it is anticipated that the migration of data could take longer.
• Following the transition to the new platform, the TMO is expected to issue electronic trade mark registration certificates.
While some short-term delays may be experienced during the transition period, the move to an electronic filing system should ultimately improve the efficiency and processing times of trade mark applications in Lebanon.
If you have applications to file in Lebanon, please continue to send them to us and we will ensure they are prepared and ready for filing as soon as the electronic system becomes operational.
