A draft withdrawal agreement between the UK Government and the European Union published on 19 March 2018 has indicated that owners of EU trade marks and Community designs will be granted an equivalent UK right following Brexit. Myanmar does not currently have substantive IP laws or proper trade mark, patent or design registration systems.  However, a trade mark, patent or design owner can file a Declaration of Ownership with the Registrar of Deeds, and Cautionary Notices are published in local newspapers.      Draft IP laws have just been passed by the Upper House of Parliament, and are expected to enter into force later this year.  They will shortly be submitted for review and approval...
