Kiribati deposited its instrument of accession to the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property on 5th November 2021, so becoming the 178th member State.  Kiribati will become bound by the Paris Convention on 5th February 2022. Jamaica deposited its instrument of accession to the PCT on 10th November 2021, so becoming the 154th Contracting State of the PCT.  Jamaica will become bound by the PCT with effect from 10th February 2022, such that any international application filed on or after this date will automatically include the designation of Jamaica and the country will automatically be elected in any demand filed in respect of any such international application.  In addition, nationals and residents of...

The Republic of Seychelles has acceded to the Harare Protocol on Patents and Industrial Designs, so becoming the 21st ARIPO Member State. The instrument of accession was received by the ARIPO Director General on 1st October 2021 and means that, with effect from 1st January 2022, users of the ARIPO system can designate the Seychelles in their patent and design applications.   For more information please contact the author, Louise Audhlam-Gardiner, at louise@lysaght.co.uk
