On 11 December 2014, Zimbabwe filed the instrument of accession to the Madrid Protocol with WIPO. The Madrid Protocol is due to enter into force on 11 March 2015.

However, Zimbabwe has not amended its trade mark law to recognise International Registrations, and it is unlikely to do so before 11 March 2015. Until the law is amended, we have to advise against relying on International Registrations designating Zimbabwe, as they will not be enforceable until the law changes to recognise such trade marks.
