On 6th October 2017, Decree No. 1151 will come into force in the Russian Federation, which will revise a number of the official fees for intellectual property matters there. Of particular note will be an increase in the official filing fees for patents, industrial designs and utility models, as well as the introduction of additional fees for the first 10 claims rather than the first 25 claims of a patent or utility model application and for each additional variant in a design application. In addition, the fees for the substantive examination, publication, registration and renewal of patent, utility model and design applications will increase, with the total amount payable for substantive examination depending on the number of independent claims or design variants present in the application.

As far as trade marks are concerned, the most significant increases affect the filing fee, the fee for additional classes, registration and renewal fees, and the fee for filing an opposition.
